Its funny how fate plays a big part of the world, 99 percent of thethings that happen, happens because of fate. And I can contest to thistheory being true. What happened to me is something that I dreamedabout for my entire senior year of high school. I Bryce Franklin had asummer romance. It was the week after my high school graduation whenit all started.
I went out with a few friends of mine to celebrate the independencethat was now all mine. I had college coming up in the fall but thatnight it was about getting loose and maybe meeting a few guysinteresting enough to keep my 18 year old attention. It had only beena year or so that I had came out to my family but as soon as I turn 18I was all to excited to hit the gay club scene. My parents weren't tohappy about my life style at first but they got over it pretty quick.I mean it wasn't like I dressed up like a girl or anything. I was justlike one of the guys I liked and played sports and everything elsehetero guys did I just was attracted to males. My mom told me onenight that she knew I was different after I came out to them.
So on a very hot D.C. Friday night me and my two best friends Joshand Kelli decided to hit Six the hottest punk club in the city. Youhad to be 21 to get in before 2am but Josh had hooked up with thebouncer once or twice so he would let us slide in. The place waspacked with everyone ready to blow off the weeks steam. we walked overto the bar and got our usual we felt like super stars at Six. Wewalked around the line and even though we were under age we gottwisted thanks to the bartender being Kelli's cousin.
We made our rounds and talked to a few people we knew and then hitthe dance floor hard. After about an half an hour later that's whenfate played its part. I was ready for my second drink and made wayback to the bar so Candice, Kelli's cousin could hook me up. I orderedmy drink and decided to hang at the bar for a while to check on a fewprospects. This guy I didn't even notice stepped next to me. His voicesounded familiar but it couldn't be who I thought it was. I tried tosneak a peak from the corner of my eye. His profile was sick as shitthough. But he turned around my heart skipped a beat. Mr. R I saiddamn near dropping my Hennessy and ginger ale on the ground. Which Ishouldn't even had in my hand. Byrce, what are you doing in here, Mr.R, my English teacher this last year of high school asked? I had aJones for this man, he was in his early twenty's it was his first yearas a teacher and he did a bang up job of it if you ask me. CelebratingGraduation I said after my quant little in shock. And you drinking Ican't believe I'm in the club with one of my students. I leaned incloser and said former students, don't trip we both grown here I saidtrying to mack to him on the low. He leaned back and looked me squarein my eyes a if he was looking at a completely different person. I seeyou trying to put you little charm on it, He said. Well I didn't knowyou...I caught myself thinking that may be just a little far. Wellyeah have been for a while he said picking right up where I left off. When I say Stephen "Mr. R" Roberson was fine. His body was fit and hemade any shirt want to be on his back! His face was something thatcould only belong to the person trying to be the Next Tyson Beckford.A creamy caramel complexion and stood at about 5' 10". Damn the dreamsI had of this man. Would you like to dance I asked? Mr. R don't makeme feel stupid by telling me no. He thought about it for a second andhe took a deep breath then said. For the night call me Stephen causeMr. R is a little weird. We walk over the dance floor and began tomove a little close backing up on to him. He pushed me away a littlebut I move right up against him. He turned me around to face him andtook my hand. We swayed and moved our bodies to the music. Mr. R orStephen for the night had some moves to. He would gyrate his hips in away that made me want to get close to him. We danced the and dancedtill we couldn't take no more. Stephen finally let me get closer tohim on the last song we danced to before we made our way to the bar.The crowd had grown three time the size it was before we went todance. Let me get another I asked Candice and Stephen got a gin andjuice. We kicked it at the bar for a few talking into each others ear.
He really was a cool man. He had graduated from Howard universitywhich he wouldn't let us seniors forget. I heard the guys that wentthere were sexy and had a certain swagger about them, which was one ofthe main reasons I was going there this fall. He was 24 had justclosed on his first home that he had been saving for since being afreshman in college. He was doing him and the more I learned the moreI drawn to him. I looked up noticed Josh and Kelli coming in mydirection and motioned for them to not come over. We started dancingright there and Stephen was moving in ways that was making me want tolay with him right there in the club.
Well I'm about to get up out of here Bryce it was good running intoyou. Give me your number maybe we can hang or something. I quicklytold him my number then whipped out my sidekick and took his number. We said our goodbye and hugged and for the second time that night Igot to feel what it was like having Stephen's body against mine. Hewalked off and I wish I could get him to stay a little while longer. Imade my way over to the other bar where Josh and Kelli were. Wherehave you been Josh asked me? You know how I do was meeting new peopleI lied. I couldn't let them know just yet what had taken place. I feltmy cell vibrate and it was a text, "I'm hungry want to grab a bit- S.Roberson" I couldn't just leave my friends but I wanted to go. LookI'm going to grab something to eat with this guy we know, take my carand meet me at the diner when I text you I'll give you more later Itold them. They both looked at me like I was crazy. You can't beleaving with mystery men Josh said. He not a stranger when I tell youwho it is you'll going to lose it, I said. I walked off textingStephen that I was on my way.
Stephen picked me up at the door. This is a nice car on a teacherssalary. Stephen was driving a brand new Nissan Maxima. Stephen letdown the windows and moon roof and let the night air in and we cruisedto main street and drove thru Haynes point. The light sounds of Princeplayed while he drove. We got to talking and everything about this manI was digging. He pulled over and we just chilled and talked. After awhile I stepped out of the passenger side and walked around to thedriver side. I opened the door and pulled Stephen out and we stoodlooking each other in the eye. Stephen put his arms around my waistand pulled me closer as he leaned on his car. I have no business inthis park with you he said. But we are both of age and I want to be inthis park with you, I said. It was like I was having an outer bodyexperience I never flirted and longed for some dude like I did withMr. R. His attitude and vibe was just so laid back. Question, how longhave you had a little thing for me I asked ,wondering if he hadthought about me after school? Well I always thought you were a littlecutie, I noticed that your shit was a lot more mature than most ofyour classmates. I was a little shocked at his honesty.
His scent was starting to give me a rush. And I grew comfortable inhis arms. The late spring breeze had me swaying in his arms. Don'tthink I didn't see you checking me out a few times, Stephen said. Who,I never use to check you out I said. Lying thru all of my teeth. Iwould spend most of my class time watching the way his body looked ashe wrote on the chalk board or the way his pants got a little tightwhen he sat on his desk and taught that way. Just to be in hispresences made my day. Yea you were but I didn't mind you didn't evenknow that I was family.
